It’s a similar term to Catfishing. Kittenfishing describes the action of presenting oneself in an unrealistic way in dating sites and dating apps.

You don’t really need to create a full fake profile or to take someone else’s identity to Kittenfish, so it’s not like being a romance scammer. It’s more like enhancing yourself in an unrealistic way by using old photos or slightly lying about how you are in order to make other singles fall for you in a dating service.
